I'm finding lots of inspiration from one of my other favorite forms of creativity and made more quilt inspired cards. While I haven't quilted with fabric for awhile, I'm bringing it to paper crafting. For this first card, I paper pieced a heart from DCWV's premium stack Dots, Stripes, and Plaids. I put it on a DCWV embossed kraft card before added stitching, a heat embossed sentiment, and embellishments.
For the second card, I hand cut flower petals from the DCWV My Sunshine Stack and added pen marks to look like stitching. I layered these on top of each other, added a die cut center, sequins, and wood veneers.
I wanted to share another angle of this card, because I curled the edges of the petals to add dimension. It really pops off the card, but it was hard to see in the previous photo.
I imagine this won't be the last of my quilt inspired crafting, because it's such a great melding of my hobbies. Happy crafting!
I'm sharing my DT layout for Scrap Our Stash's April challenge. This layout features two of my dearest friends who got married in December on their nineteenth anniversary. This was actually their second wedding, but this time it was legally recognized. I felt very fortunate to be there and witness their union. It was short, sweet, and full of love and laughter. Perfect.
I followed the Scrap Our Stash sketch pretty closely and integrated several of the mood board elements, including the cloud, the word "happy", the geometric shapes, and the colors (teal, pink, gold). Play along to win a gift certificate to Creative Elements!
I die cut heart shapes from white cardstock and then adhered it to the right side of the page. Here's a couple closeups...
My favorite element might be this banner, which I made with string and washi tape. I also love these die cut cloud shapes and wood veneers that I got from Citrus Twist Kits.
I was sick all weekend with a cold. I didn't leave the house once and hardly left the couch or bed, but I did fit in a little bit of crafting. I made two quilt inspired cards that I shared on the DCWV blog today! I used two 5-pack premium paper collections and a different paper piecing technique for each. For the first card uses foil stars, corrugate, silver glitter, and foiled guitar paper. I created a quilt pattern with squares and folded circles before adding contrasting red stitching, buttons, and DCWV foil paper.
For the birthday card I used 1/2″ strips of paper to make a pieced background and then added a stamped and embossed sentiment in the middle. This five pack of paper included foiled florals, laser cut, glitzy glitter, and foil dots sheets.
I'm sharing my latest design team layout for Scrap Our Stash. I'm feeling under the weather so this will quick. Yesterday was "sibling day" on social media and it's fitting that this LO features my sister of choice. She is my soul sister, who knows all of my messy and my wildest dreams, and is always cheering me on from the first row.
I die cut this quote from one of my favorite movies, Almost Famous, on my silhouette cameo. I added modeling paste and left it white. While it's hard to see, but add great texture. Then, I included various Heidi Swapp and Amy Tangerine papers and embellishments from my stash. I've been challenging myself to be more minimalist and leave more white space.
