Here's the latest Creative Scrappers layout! This is a baby Bruno photo, likely taken about 8 years ago. How is that even possible? She's always been a ball of energy, but she's suddenly started to show her age, tiring out quickly when we play ball and going to bed early every night. She's my first dog, raised from a puppy, and I want her to stay my baby forever. Getting a dog was truly one of the best decisions I've ever made. We have two now and I have to stop myself from getting a pack of them.
This layout was inspired by Creative Scrappers Sketch 284. I used my new silhouette cameo and the circles within circles cut file from this month's sponsor, 17turtles. To win a $20 gift certification to the 17turtles Etsy Shop all you have to do is create a layout using Sketch 283 and/or 284 and enter them on the Creative Scrappers blog. The deadline to submit your layout is December 31st.
I've wanted to use the Heidi Swapp September Skies collection and I chose this photo, because Bruno's harness matches the background paper perfectly. Truth be told, I have a love/hate relationship with this layout. It did not come together easily or quickly. I added gesso, modeling paste circles, and watercolor to the background, but decided it was too bright. I almost scrapped the background all together, but kept trying to salvage it. I added more gesso to tone it down. Still, it was bugging me. I kept playing around with embellishments before finally adding layers upon layers of flower die cuts in one area. I decided to continue collaging flowers along the edges. It's grown on me, but I still waver between thinking it's too busy and really enjoying the overall effect.
Look at that adorable dog embellishment! It's perfect for a layout with one of my french bulldogs. So cute!
