Last year I had the opportunity to get "friends and family" tickets for a Beyonce concert and I knew I couldn't pass it up. She wasn't playing near me so I had the genius idea to go see her in Las Vegas. I used to play a lot of poker and travelled to Vegas at least once or twice a year, but as my poker playing dwindled and my travels to other places increased, my trips there stopped. I was excited to go back and have been contemplating another trip recently, but I find that I enjoy myself there for 2-3 nights max and then it's time to get out and fast. The concert also happened to be around the time of one of my friend Josh's 30th birthday and he's a huge Beyonce fan. It worked out perfectly, really. The show was as showy as it gets, with beautiful video projections, pyrotechnics, lots of costume changes, and large dance numbers.
This layout was inspired by two challenges. The first was the sketch from Paper Issues, which I enjoyed and followed pretty closely. The second was the bingo card challenge from Scrap Our Stash. I used the row with the following: arrow, enamel dots, file folder, and three photos.
There are some layouts that you labor over and have a hard time seeing their direction. I have had several of those recently. This one was not one of those, as it came together painlessly and I really enjoyed the process. Here's some close-ups. I distressed, inked and sewed the top and bottom papers. I used paper and chipboard from Crate Paper's DIY Shop collection. I fussy cut the rollers skate, doily, and cassette tape. Most of the other embellishments are from various Heidi Swapp collections.
