Welcome to the DCWV and Faber-Castell Design Memory Craft Winter blog hop! From December 8th-12th both blogs will be sharing fun winter projects featuring products from both companies. Check in each day on both blogs for chances to win lots of fabulous prizes. I'm excited to be participating in m first blog hop and sharing my Christmas Countdown, a holiday inspired mixed media creation!
I started with a pre-gesso'd canvas and used the Faber-Castell Gel Medium to glue torn papers from the DCWV Candy Cane Lane Stack.
I then used the black Faber-Castell PITT Pastel Pencil to add color and depth to the edges of the papers. I like these pencils, because they don't leave a dusty mess and blend easily with your fingertips.
Next I cut off bits of Faber-Castell Gelatos (black and metallic silver) and mixed them with the Faber-Castell Whipped Spackle. I used two different DCWV templates (dots and numbers) to stencil the gelato/spackle combination and the spackle itself onto the canvas.
To display the number of days remaining until Christmas, I die cut an oval out of black cardstock, painted it with Faber-Castell Chalk Board Paint, and added the DCWV frame adhesive mirror on top.
I die cut "Days Until Christmas" out of the DCWV Holiday Glitzy Glitter Stack and outlined around it using the Faber-Castell PITT Soft Brush Pen. I use this pen on just about every project, including all my scrapbook layouts, to ink the edges in black and help items stand out.
Lastly, I fussy cut the flowers out of the DCWV Candy Cane Lane Stack paper and added fabric flowers on top.
There you have it! That's how I made this mixed media project using lots of DCWV and Faber-Castell products. Check back on the DCWV blog every day this week to see what my fellow designers have been up to, leave comments, and win some great prizes!
