This came together so easily and I enjoyed the creative process from start to finish. This is great news, because lately I've been laboring over layouts and struggling to get them to come together. I make a layout and then I'm annoyed with it afterwards. However, I think it's one of my favorite layouts to date and I find more things to like when I look at it. I especially love the close ups, which I shared below.
Here's my latest Creative Scrappers layout! These pups, they are so cute I can hardly stand it. These two were not amused by costume time, but luckily for them, it doesn't last long. I once thought I wasn't an animal person, especially dogs. I was wrong. I spent my teen years living a small farm in Iowa. We had pigs, horses, dogs, cats, birds, gerbils, you name it, but taking care of them was always my sister's passion and I never became invested. I was too busy trying to escape my small town, reading books, and hanging out with friends. Now these two dogs have changed everything and I can't imagine a life without them. I sometimes fantasize about escaping the business of present and returning to a quiet farm life with a bunch of animals. Here's the sketch that inspired this layout, Creative Scrappers Sketch 282. As you can see, I'm a little obsessed with pink lately, especially when mixed with teal. I can't get enough. Here's a couple process photos where you can see the early stages of this layout. I actually started with a completely different background, but after spending a morning trying to make it work, I gave up and started over. This one came together so much easier and I'm glad I didn't try to force the other. I started with gesso and mist and then mixed Heidi Swapp's color shine and modeling paste before applying to the heart stencils. Inspired by my love of free-motion quilting, I sewed different patterns on the bottom circles and sewed around the paper edges. I added different wood embellishments that I tinted with color shine. I use that stuff on everything. Dimension, stamping, layers, and mixed media = all of my favorite things. Here's some closeups...
